Samiras in Bloomington

Came here for dinner and had lamb kabab. Very delicious and perfectly cooked. It’s more of a combination of Italian and Afgani with the better of both flavors. Just a touch expensive may be but the entree was very filling and healthy. Don’t mind coming back here again and try other options from the menu.

The food is pretty great (although a bit more expensive than other international restaurants). Lunch buffet is probably the best time to go!

Wonderful way to eat out in Bloomington. Great service and an upscale atmosphere. We visited late on a Saturday night, and while there were only a few other tables occupied, the food came out quick and fresh. Ask your server for what they like best on the smaller menu.

Absolutely delicious! We love trying new things and this place did not disappoint. The kabobs are definitely my suggestion for dinner. Very tender and flavorful! They were very busy, with a couple of large parties and the service was still too notch. Thank you Samira for a lovely dinner.

Our friends recommended this restaurant!! The food was delicious and our waitress, Zoe, was spectacular! Our favorite was lamb kabab, rice was delicious as well!

I love all the kebabs here! You really can't go wrong with any of the dishes. They cook the basmati rice to perfection and that really does speak volumes about the quality of this place.

A favorite lunch-time buffet with a variety of tasty foods which includes a good balance of vegetables, starches, meats, and fruit. The baklava is very good and I always look forward to the little toasted bread with hummus and olive oil. A good location for a business meal, lunch with colleagues, friends or family with different dietary needs, older kids, and date-nights. One of my favorite (and frequented) restaurants in town. Also, although there is sometimes a wait, the staff is friendly and helpful, and sometimes the owner comes to ensure all is running smoothly. :)

The atmosphere was very nice as were the waitresses. The food came in a timely manner, and was absolutely amazing. I was a little afraid before going that there wouldn’t be a lot of food for the price (we ordered from the menu), but, in my opinion, you get a lot of really good food (I even needed a takeout box). Our meal was very flavorful and very nicely made. Definitely going to eat here again in the future!

I've been at this resturant a year prior. It was incredible prior and today it was even better. You start the meal off with a roasted egg plant, olive oil and some bread. Your meal comes with a salad or a soup, I believe they only have red bean lentils. A smooth soup with red lentils, dill and some citrus flavoring. Dinner, unfortunately, I cannot recall the name of my dinner but it was jasmine rice, picked carrots and raisins. Around were meat filled pockets and amazingness. I struggled to finish but this is absolutely a place I would love to come back to!

Samira always delivers great quality food. Traditionally I have been to Samira for their lunch buffet. The food is always about the same but I love the Tandori-like chicken and the many spicy side dishes. The kebabs are also excellent and great options for dinner. There is enough food in the special combination kebab for a couple of delicious meals.

Our good friend took us there for lunch. The place was packed but the service and the quality of the food was great. It was a buffet but the food was fresh and wholesome. A great place to eat.

YUMMY! Couldn't even tell you what I had, but it was vegetarian and I'm a carnivore... It was still delicious. They have many meat based dishes on the menu, I chose the eggplant dish to be adventurous. Portions were massive and service was quick. Parking is a nightmare due to location, but Bloomington locals probably have a better plan than I did.

Divine lamb kebabs, great ambience, friendly staff, and good selection of wine makes this a must visit for any foodie in the Bloomington area. Highly recommend it!

I've only had the buffet here while traveling to the courthouse for business, but it is delicious. It is a selection of 2 proteins, 5 carb/starches, salad, fruit. But everything is really well prepared and flavorful. The server also brings some bread, a tasty sampling of hummus, and a sampling of baklava. Great food for a good price.

A great experience today. The wait staff was very helpful and respectful. The decor really made for a great environment while relaxing and eating. The food was a buffet style for 10$. Most options were vegetarian or vegan. The flavors were subtle and well paired. The bread, hummus, and baklava that were brought to the table were a nice addition.

This is one of the best restaurants in Bloomington! I've been dining here for over 15 years and it’s always been top notch. The owner is always in the kitchen and it shows with the consistency and high quality of the dishes every single time. It also has one of the best lunch buffets in town. The staff is professional and friendly.

Amazing eggplant appetizers. Flavorful foccacia and well made qabuli pallao... Must visit for that afghan ambience and great tasting food. You won't regret this..

I'm definitely a fan of their all-you-can-eat lunch buffet. For years it was just a dinner spot for us, until we discovered the lunch buffet!

Didn't have a good experience with their lunch buffet. Ambiance is nice but food not up to the mark. The buffet had very limited options and also the taste wasn't great. There were only 5-6 items with just one item with meat. It seemed like a vegetarian menu. The only thing that was great was the baklava they gave at the end. So, giving 2 stars only for the baklava.

This was the second time I have been here and it is fantastic food. You won't be disappointed. Please try it.

I haven't had this kind of lamb before. Utterly delicious. Great atmosphere and amazing service. This is the place I take all my friends when they visit me in Bloomington. The food definitely feels authentic, lots of vegetarian options too!

This was a great dining experience. We started with the fried eggplant and carrot. They bring this to everyone and the eggplant (which has never been one of my favorite vegetable) was seasoned perfectly. We both loved it! Then we both chose the Lentil Soup, it was amazing. It was different from any lentil soup I have ever had and I want some now! I had the Chicken Kebaab Dinner and he had the Beef Kebaab Dinner. Everything that we had was well seasoned and delicious. If I lived in the area, I would go back often.

Passing through here for a business trip. I am really picky about ethnic food. This restaurant is exquisite. Fresh, properly made, amazing food. I highly recommend the hen and the lamb kebob as an entre. The veggie platter appetizer is very unique and mouth watering if you are a veggie lover.

My favorite place in Bloomington. The food and service are always excellent. The Shalgham Pallao is my go-to entree. I was originally skeptical about paying for a baked turnip but it was not only filling but cooked/spiced to perfection. I’ve never walked away disappointed and always have leftovers. The appetizers and soups are also a must. Try the Namounaa. It’s a delightful combination to sample.

This is as my first visit to Samira, and it was during a Dine and Donate for Middle Way House. The meal and the atmosphere were beautiful and amazing. I’ll define be there again! Thank you, Samira, for supporting MWH!

This is one of the best restaurants in Bloomington, but I'm giving a one-star review to get the manager's attention. Evidently they have a policy whereby the greeting hostess is NOT ALLOWED to make change for the parking meter. The servers might be able to, but they must do so out of their own cash, and often don't have the coins. Come on, people! Would it kill you to keep some quarters in a drawer in the back? Do you really want to stick to a policy that encourages people to stay away from downtown, and instead go out to some place like Applebee's or Texas Roadhouse to eat??!

Probably the best meal I've had in Bloomington during a whole week of stay.

Nice environment. Nothing to complain about the service. Food was not to my personal taste much. The chicken dish I had didn't have much chicken meat in it. The prices were kind of on the expensive side. Since I don't drink, their wine collection did not add any value in my case. So I guess you need to try it for yourself and see if you like it or not.
